November 2022
In June 2022, Todd Chrisley and wife, Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality television series Chrisley Knows Best were found guilty on eight counts of financial fraud and two counts of tax evasion in an unholy scheme to fund an extravagant lifestyle while drowning in debt. In November 2022 they were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison.
But this was not the first time.
Long before the Chrisleys landed their reality show deal, Todd and Julie were living far beyond their means. In 2021, buried in debt, Todd Chrisley declared bankruptcy, walking away from $20 million in unpaid loans and $500,000 he owed the IRS.
After sentencing, lawyers for Todd and Julie Chrisley issued this pathetic statement:
“Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions.”
Give me a break. There it is again, that “people of faith” claim, painting this Christian crime family as virtuous–not the pretentious pious prigs they are.
The Chrisley crime family’s daughter, Savannah, said, “They’re pushing through. We’re at a place where we put our faith in God. We definitely don’t put our faith in the system.”
How sweet.
"Now, in this storm that we're in, I feel like I'm closer to God than I've ever been,” Todd Chrisley said to his wife during a podcast. Chrisley said prayer has helped him make sense of the family's problems.
Notice no apology. No contrition. No begging forgiveness for their numerous financial crimes. No. Just these jeezy cheesy faith statements, spoken as if faith is some magic vaccine that will provide divine immunity against our demoniacal judicial system.
For sure, Todd and Julie will have plenty of free time to pray about it!
